INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 10, 2020)  – Senior Spencer Cook of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team topped Division III in 3-point field-goal percentage, the NCAA confirmed Thursday when the winter sports season statistics were finalized. Cook is the first player in program history to be declared an NCAA Statistical Champion. As a team, Men's Basketball previously topped Division III in field-goal percentage defense during the 2007-08 season.

Cook sank 76 of his 152 3-point attempts to shoot exactly 50 percent from behind the arc. The Third Team All-American netted 228 of his 540 total points on three-pointers and his 76 threes rank ninth in any single season in the program's 104-year history. Cook finished three-tenths-of-a-point ahead of Colby's Sam Jefferson, who made 75 of his 151 3-point attempts (49.7%). The high-scoring senior made at least one three in 27 of his 28 games and matched a career high by draining six threes on three different occasions.

"It's no surprise that Spencer finished first in all of Division III in this category as he puts so much time into improving all of his basketball skills," said head coach Bobby Hurley. "He had a terrific season and we are very proud of all of his accomplishments."

Cook is the second Duck to be declared an NCAA Statistical Champion this academic year. Wrestling senior Troy Stantich topped Division III's Most Dominant Wrestler standings in March.
