MADISON, N.J. (Oct. 31, 2021) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team competed in its first dual meet of the season Sunday, finishing with a 5-1 record at the Ranger Fall Invitational – Part I hosted by Drew University.
The Ducks picked up victories over Yeshiva University, Drew University, Army, Navy and Rutgers University after starting the day with a narrow defeat at the hands of Vassar College.
The foil squad led the way on the day for Stevens with a 38-16 overall record while sabre finished 34-20 and epee produced a 32-22 record.
Colin Mahoney and
Logan Rechler finished the day with 11 victories each to produce the most wins among individual student-athletes for the Ducks in the competition.
Vs. Vassar (Loss 14-13)
Vs. Yeshiva (Win 25-2)
Vs. Drew (Win 16-11)
- Pan was 3-0, Faubert went 2-1 and Crouse added another win to give epee a 6-3 victory over the Rangers.
- The foil squad was able to edge out a 5-4 victory thanks to two wins from Ehrlich and Rechler and another from Beja.
- Stevens dropped a narrow 5-4 contest at sabre despite two wins from Mahoney and one each by John Morreale and Woodward.
Vs. Army (Win 14-13)
- Marran went 2-0 and Caleb Romero picked up his first win of the day as epee fell 6-3 to the Black Knights.
- The foil squad was able to pick up the slack with an 8-1 victory thanks to two wins each from Cheng, Rechler and Ehrlich and single wins by Grzeda, Peneiras and Amodemo.
- Sabre dropped a 6-3 decision with two of the three wins coming by Mahoney.
Vs. Navy (Win 20-7)
- The epee squad started things off with a narrow 5-4 win with two wins from Marran and one victory apiece by Toltus, Romero and Andrew Bauman.
- Ehrlich posted a perfect 3-0 record, Cheng and Rechler had two wins apiece and Grzeda produced one victory as foil produced their second straight 8-1 win.
- Morreale finished 3-0 while Reda and Woodward finished 2-1 as sabre picked up a 7-2 victory.
Vs. Rutgers (Win 17-10)
- Jack Corridon and Jose Martinez-Ponce both earned their first wins of the day as epee earned the most lopsided win against the Scarlet Knights, taking down Rutgers 7-2.
- The foil squad picked up a 5-4 win thanks to 2-1 records from both Rechler and Ehrlich.
- The competition closed out with a 5-4 victory at sabre with three wins coming from Mahoney and two more by Woodward.

- "It was a good day today. We started out a bit rusty with a year and a half since our last dual meet. The guys got better all day, though, especially the first-years who really came on strong."
