NORMAN, Okla. (July 30, 2021) – The Stevens Institute of Technology golf team was one of 14 Division III programs to earn the President's Special Recognition Award, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced.
Additionally, a trio of student-athletes: alumnus
Vincent Cortese, rising senior
Eddie Sot and rising junior
Eegan McDermott, were each named Division III All-American Scholars, presented by Srixon/Cleveland Golf. It is the second time in program history that Stevens golfers earned the prestigious distinction.
"So very proud of our student-athletes for receiving these awards," said head coach
Charles Papendick. "They've shown the ability to excel both in the classroom and on the golf course. It is exciting to see their commitment in both areas recognized nationally. It is my hope that this becomes an annual occurrence and that more of our student-athletes earn this recognition in the future."
Stevens received the Outstanding Team Academic Award for the second straight year, and was one of 76 programs in the United States to earn the Special Recognition Award for posting a team grade-point average over 3.50.
