Men's Golf Finishes Seventh at Swarthmore Invitational

Malvern, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's golf team finished the Swarthmore Invitational in seventh place, following a strong showing Monday during 36 holes of competition.
 
The Ducks finished the two-day, 54-hole event with a team total of 908 (+56), just five shots back of sixth-place Skidmore and two back of Farmingdale State (both schools are currently in the Top 85 of the national rankings. Dickinson finished the event with three team rounds all at +8 or lower, finishing 12 shots ahead of Franklin & Marshall and 14 shots ahead of Tufts.
 
Stevens' +26 36-hole total on Monday was fifth-best of the 16 teams competing, helping the Ducks overtake York (72nd in the national rankings), who entered Monday with a nine-shot advantage.

FROM THE COURSE
Slicker shot three-over across the 36 holes, one of just six to finish the day at or below that mark. After birdieing the par-four 5th while shooting one over on the front nine during his first 18 of the day, Slicker birdied three holes on the back nine in the final round, shooting one-under during that stretch.
 
Tank shot seven-over on Monday, with a +3 74 first 18 and +4 75 second 18. Tank birdied four holes in all, including back-to-back holes at the par-four 10th and par-five 11th during his first 18.
 
Beaver shot five-over in Round 2, parring six straight holes on the front nine and birdieing the par-five 11th. In Round 3, Beaver parred every hole on the front nine, adding a birdie at the par-four 15th during a round of 73 (+2).
 
Harris birdied the par-five 6th and par-four 15th during a six-over second round, then birdied the 6th again in the third round during an even-par front nine, finishing at three-over for the round and nine-over for the day.
 
Eide, like Harris, birdied the par-five 6th shooting two-over on the front nine during a +9 second round, then closed his day with birdies at the 15th and par-five 17th during an eight-over Round 3.
 
Slicker finished as the team's high finisher for the event in a tie for 13th (+11, 224), two shots ahead of Tank, who tied for 20th. Beaver finished two shots back of Tank, checking in with a 54-hole total of 228 (+15). Harris finished at +21, tying for 45th and Eide tied for 52nd at +25.
