ANNVILLE, Pa. (September 28, 2021) – Junior
Miles Philion of the Stevens Institute of Technology golf team was named MAC Freedom Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
It's the first career weekly honor for the Delhi, New York native and the second for golf this season. Senior
Eddie Sot was previously recognized by the league office on Sept. 14.
"So very proud of Miles," said head coach
Charles Papendick. "He's beginning to really manage his golf game and the results speak for themselves. He has a positive attitude and has become a big part of our success."
Philion led the Ducks to a second-place finish at the Golden Oaks Shootout over the weekend. The third-year golfer fired an opening-round 75 and final round of 73 to finish four-over for the tournament and tie for fourth place alongside teammates
Eddie Sot and
Eegan McDermott. As a group, Stevens finished with a 597, which included a program record 292 on the final day of competition.
Up Next: Golf returns to the links on Oct. 3-4 for the two-day Gettysburg Fall Invitational. The event is being held at Hanover Country Club in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania.
