Andy Faubert was a perfect 3-0 at epee to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team over No. 2 Columbia University 15-12 Friday evening at the Lions' annual Invitational.

Dylan Woodward in posting a pair of wins against Columbia for the Ducks, who earned their first-ever victory over their cross-river rival. Columbia has won three of the last seven contested national championships and 16 over the program's lengthy history.
The Ducks fell to Johns Hopkins University, who is ranked second in the United States Fencing Coaches Association's Division III poll, 21-6 to split the evening's duals. Stevens finished competition with an 18-3 record.
"Unbelievable win against Columbia," head coach
Jim Carpenter said. "They're one the strongest programs in the country and the guys brought an amazing level of intensity. They continued to fight hard against Hopkins, but it was tough to maintain the intensity."
Smith and Yurovchak also added a pair of victories against Johns Hopkins, while Faubert added one. Sophomore
Colin Mahoney had a win against both Columbia and Hopkins, while classmate
John Morreale had one win against the Lions to round out the Ducks' victories on the evening.
The Ducks posted a decisive 7-2 victory over Columbia at epee, while also registering a 5-4 win over Johns Hopkins. The foil and sabre squads dropped hard-fought 5-4 scores to Columbia, while also falling to Johns Hopkins.
