MADISON, N.J. (November 6, 2022) – First-year foilist
Nick Reznick finished with a team- and career-high 14 victories to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology men's fencing team to a perfect 6-0 record Sunday to close out the Rangers Fall Invitational, hosted by Drew University at its Simon Forum.
Fellow first-year
Andrew Yurovchak added 13 wins at epee, while sophomore
Nicholas Smith and fifth-year
Andy Faubert finished with 12 and 11, respectively, as eight different Ducks totaled double-digit victories on the day. Sophomore
John Morreale had 12 wins at sabre, while classmate
Colin Mahoney had 11 and senior
Dylan Woodward added 10. Sophomore
Rocco Mathews recorded 10 wins at foil to round out the double-digit victors.
Also of note, graduate student
Matthew Jacobson went a perfect 3-0 on the day to cross the 100 career wins plateau.
As a team, the Ducks posted decisive victories over Florida (23-4), LIU (20-7) and Rutgers (20-7) to begin the day. A hard-fought 15-12 win over Drew, the sixth straight over the Rangers, brought Stevens into the bye slot in the schedule, and wins over Pittsburgh (24-3) and Lafayette (20-7) closed out the day. With the perfect performance, the Ducks improved to 11-1 on the year and have won their last 10 duals.
"I am really proud of our men's team," head coach
Jim Carpenter said. "We battled through a lot of injuries and tough conditions to beat a lot of tough teams today."
As a team, the Ducks had an impressive day on the strips, finishing with a 122-40 record. The epee group posted the best record among the three weapons, ending competition with a 46-8 mark and posted a perfect 6-0 record. The sabreists went 5-1 on the day, falling to LIU 5-4, with the six competing Ducks finishing with a 41-13 record. The foilists closed out the event with a 5-1 record, with the only setback coming against Drew (5-4) and the five competing Ducks combined for a 35-19 record.

Thomas Cheng scored nine wins on the day, while senior
Patrick Pan (epee) added six to mark his first victories of the season. First-year sabreist
David Ryder Bidwell was one of four Ducks (first-year
Aden Vishnevsky (foil), senior
Jack Corridon (epee) and classmate
James Morris (epee)) to score a pair of victories to round out the Stevens wins. The event marked the collegiate debut for Bidwell, while Corridon made his season debut.
