ANNVILLE, Pa. (March 21, 2022) – After twirling the fourth no-hitter in program history one week ago, junior
Erin Kreis of the Stevens Institute of Technology softball team was named the MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
It is the first career weekly honor for the Catonsville, Maryland native and the first for the program this season.
"I am excited for Erin to have received this recognition," head softball coach
Emily Kaczmarek said, "It was awesome to see her throw her first collegiate no-hitter."
Kreis pitched a gem against Mount Saint Vincent to record the fourth no-hitter in program history and the first since 2011. In five innings of work, the junior hurler faced 18 batters, struck out nine and walked only two to etch her name in program history. The nine punchouts matched a career high.
Up Next: Softball hosts Ramapo College on Mar. 24 for a non-conference doubleheader at Waterfront Park. The teams last met in 2019, splitting a doubleheader in Mahwah. The teams last met in the confines of Waterfront Park in 2017.
