FLANDERS, N.J. (October 5, 2023) – Sophomore
Punn Chittaratlert turned in a career performance, firing a 4-over 76 to help guide the Stevens Institute of Technology golf team to a second-place finish Thursday at the Birdie Bash, hosted by Drew University at the Flanders Valley Golf Course (par 72, 6,765 yards).
Chittaratlert carded a pair of birdies and finished with 10 pars to tie for seventh place out of 44 competitors. The Jamesville, New York native had an impressive front nine, finishing even through nine holes, marking the best nine-hold run of any Duck in the field. As a team, after a slow start, the Ducks rallied down the stretch and finished with a 311 to finish second out of the nine competing squads.Â
Individually, Penn College's Peyton Mussina had four birdies to win the individual title by two strokes as the only golfer to finish under par (-1). Penn College finished 6-over for the day to also claim the team title.
The Rundown
- First-year Maxime Debets and senior Joss Hindin tied for the team lead with three birdies. Hindin also had a strong first half of the day, finishing 1-over through his first nine holes. The Garrison, New York native tied for 17th.
- Debets, meanwhile, joined junior Eduardo Terlaje in posting the most consistent score of the day. Each golfer shot 3-over on both the front and back nines to finish 6-over on the day, tying for 12th place with three other competitors. Interestingly, Terlaje did not card a birdie.
- Sophomore Brock Dickson carded one birdie and finished 10-over for the tournament (t-23rd) to round out the Ducks' entrants. Dickson also posted a score of 3-over on the back nine.
