Coach's Comments
- "The first meet back from winter break is incredibly challenging. Every year of my coaching career, the team usually takes a small step backwards from where they were at the first meet in December. This is to be expected, as training is much more difficult over winter break. Not only are our athletes on their own, but it's also difficult to procure proper facilities for the few weeks they are training without us. This was the first year I've been a collegiate coach where this hasn't happened. Our group wildly exceeded expectations, and picked up right where they left off six weeks ago from our first meet. This is an amazingly promising sign and a testament to how our group is working hard and doing the right things. I'm a little shocked and very happy with today's results."
- "We had some great performances today from our men's squad. Brandon Keifer had an incredible day, placing fourth in pole vault and sixth in triple jump. While triple jump is not a part of the heptathlon or decathlon, which are Brandon's main events, he is such a talented athlete he can succeed in just about any event we throw him in. It was great to see him get a triple jump PR after a two-year hiatus from the event. "
- "Federico Yacoubian also had an incredible day, placing second in the 60-meter hurdles with a new lifetime best. Opening your season with a lifetime best in your main event is very impressive and he still has quite a bit of room to grow technically. The sky is the limit for him."
- "The trio of Jake Aylmer, Liam Concannon and Ronnie Melao are picking up right where they left off from a great cross country campaign, placing first, second and fifth in the 3000-meter run. All three of them are wildly talented, and it's a lot of fun seeing them battle on the track all in the same race."
- "Our men's team is looking as deep and as talented as it has since our 2020 indoor championship and I'm excited to see how they grow over the rest of the season."
