COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. (January 27, 2024) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's swimming team fell to the Ursinus 138-124 Saturday afternoon.
The Ducks fall in the first ever meeting between the teams, as Ursinus improves to 1-0. The Ducks are now 3-4 on the year.
Top Performers
- Junior Edward Platonov swam 1:45.61 in the 200-yard freestyle, which placed him first in the competition. He also placed third in the 100-yard freestyle.
- Stevens claimed the top three spots in the 100-yard backstroke, as junior Ryan Ward (54.72), first-year Nick Croghan (56.77), and junior Zach Chirico (59.62) placed in first, second and third respectively.
- Graduate student Derick Miller had a time of 1:00.22 in the 100-yard backstroke which placed him first in the event. The Arlington, Texas native also came in second in the 200-yard IM (2:00.67).
- Sophomore Deo Bove placed first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:00.39.
- Ward also claimed the top spot in the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.72) while Bove came in third (2:00.31).
- Sophomore Lukas Mikulenas came in first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:12.70.
- Sophomore Will Stibor placed second ahead of Platonov in the 100-yard freestyle. He also claimed second in the 50-yard freestyle.

Ursinus claimed the top spot in each relay event.

Jonah Kasznay paced the Bears by earning two first place nods in the 1000-yard free (9:47.20) and 200-yard IM (1:57.22), while taking second place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.24.
