Field Hockey To Face Bates In First Round of NCAA Tournament

Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey will battle Bates College in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.

Game time in Lewiston, Maine, is scheduled for 4 pm, with live stat and video links available on stevensducks.com.


The Ducks (15-5), who claimed their second consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship on Saturday, are making their seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Stevens won the MAC Freedom crown as they topped Arcadia University 2-1 on Saturday, with Sarah Korczukowski scoring the game-winning goal with 3:08 left in the fourth quarter.


They face a Bates team that went 12-6 on the year, including a 6-4 mark in the NESCAC. The Bobcats knocked off fourth-seeded Wesleyan College 2-1 in a shootout in the First Round of the NESCAC Tournament before topping top-seeded Middlebury College 2-1 in the Semifinal Round. They were knocked off by third-seeded Tufts University 1-0 in a penalty shootout in the NESCAC Championship.
