Women's Volleyball To Face Gallaudet In NCAA Tournament First Round

Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team is heading to Christopher Newport University for the NCAA Tournament beginning on Thursday.

The Ducks (27-6) will face Gallaudet University in Newport News, Va., at 11:30 am. The winner will battle the winner of Washington & Lee University and John Jay College on Friday. The other teams in the pod are the host Captains, William Paterson University, East Texas Baptist University, and Allegheny College.


On Saturday, Stevens outlasted Misericordia University in five sets to claim their fifth consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship. The Ducks are making their 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Elle Maggio was named the MAC Freedom Most Valuable Player after collecting 17 kills over two MAC Freedom Tournament games. Last season, they advanced to the Second Round after dispatching Marymount University in the Tournament's First Round. Stevens was topped by host and eventual National Champion Juniata College. 


Gallaudet (30-4) claimed the United East Championship with a straight-set victory over Lancaster Bible College on Saturday. The Bison earns its second straight United East championship and 10th overall since it joined the conference in 2010. The Bison won seven consecutive titles upon entering the conference.
