Men's Swimming Sits Second After Day One of TCNJ Invitational

Ewing, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's swim team sits second after the first day of The College of New Jersey Invitational.

The Ducks tallied 159 points over the six events.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens took third in the 200-freestyle relay to open day one. Leo Timmerman, Edward Platonov, Cade Cermak, and Will Stibor touched the wall in 1:25.34, edging fourth place by .54. Andrew Gaba (4:56.4), Ryan Ward (4:58.85), and Andy Kolecki (5:03.05) qualified for "B" Final in the 500-free, as Platonov took ninth in the 200-IM (1:54.61).

Timmerman was third in the 50-freestyle in 21.31, with Stibor clocking in at 21.84. In the "B" final in the 50-free, Cermak second in the heat in 21.66. The Ducks closed out the day with a fifth place finish in the 400-medley, as Ward, Angel Velasquez, Deo Bove, and Stibor finished in 3:30.7.

The TCNJ Invitational resumes on Saturday, as the preliminary round starts at 11 am.
