Men's Swimming In Third After Two Days Of TCNJ Invitational

Ewing, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's swim team sits third after two of The College of New Jersey Invitational.

The Ducks, who have totaled 338.5 team points, trail TCNJ (1,162) and USMMA (398) while leading Cortland (322.5), New Paltz (191), and West Chester (35).

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks finished sixth in the first event of the afternoon, the 200-medley relay. The group of Angel Velasquez, Cade Cermak, Edward Platonov, and Will Stibor clocked in at 1:35.05. Liam Rodgers (4:20.91) and Ethan Emerton (4:23.45) qualified for the "B" finals of the 400-IM, as Platonov took fourth in the 100-fly in 50.82. Deo Bove was eighth in 51.78 in the same event.

Eli Reinhold (1:51.19) and Andy Kolecki (1:52.99) competed in the 200-free "B" finals, as Velasquez placed eighth in the 100-breaststroke in 59.36. Cermak (59.31), Lukas Mikulenas (1:00.12), and James Johnson (1:01.76) also swam in the 100-breast. Ryan Ward (55.16) and Emerton (55.31) went back-to-back in the 100-backstroke, as the team closed out the day with a fifth-place time in the 800-free relay. Cermak, Bove, Stibor, and Platonov touched the wall in 7:08.35, giving the Ducks 32 team points.

Stevens closes out the TCNJ Invitational tomorrow, with the prelims getting underway at 9 am and the finals beginning at 1 pm.
