Bristol, R.I. – First-year

Tyler Roe finished 4-2 and took fourth place at 157 pounds for the Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team Saturday at the Scott Viera Open, hosted by Roger Williams.
The Rundown & Top Performers
- Venet's day began with his sixth victory by pin this year. After a 10-2 major decision win in the quarterfinals, Venet guaranteed himself a top-two finish with another pin in a match he was leading 6-0 at the time of the fall. Against Johnson & Wales' Ryan Currier in the final, Venet dropped an action-packed 15-13 decision.
- Like Venet, Roe started his day with a fall, doing so in just 1:33 while already leading 10-1. After a major decision loss in the quarterfinals, Roe's run through the consolation bracket began with two more pins, both in matches he was leading by at least seven points at the time of the falls. After a 17-2 technical fall victory put him in the third place match, Roe's day ended with a technical fall defeat in the third place match.
- In addition to Venet and Roe, six other Ducks notched multi-win days on the mats:
- First-year George Pavis picked up a 20-3 technical fall victory and a 5-4 decision win at 149
- Senior Jack Bailey added to his season-high pin total with two more at 165, giving him 10 for the season (without suffering a fall himself), including three in less than a minute
- Seniors Branden Bulatao & Chris Piazza and sophomore Ian Flanagan gave the Ducks six total victories on the day at 174; the seniors each picked up one technical fall and one decision win; Flanagan picked up a pin and a win by decision.
- Max Ruiz picked up a fall (in a match he was leading 9-1 at the time), and a 17-1 technical fall victory.
- Junior Anthony Bistany (141), first-year Joseph Bodnar (141), and sophomore Giorgio Corica (184) all picked up one win each for the Ducks.
From The Mat (Head Coach Anthony Bonaventura)
"Solid final tune up before we head into finals and holiday break. I thought we competed hard and saw improvement in areas we are working on in the room. Good performances by [Tyler] Roe and [Tyler] Venet, they continue to get better every time they step on the mat. Fall semester schedule really pushed us and provided plenty of data on how to improve. We are excited to continue to refine our craft and get ready for a strong push in 2025."
