The Rundown
- Stevens got out to a 4-1 lead early in the first set, with Hoke recording a kill. Later up 8-5, graduate student Percy Bickford kick-started a mini 3-0 run with a kill, which forced Messiah to call a timeout. Later on in the set, three-straight Duck points came off of kills by Bickford, graduate student Connor Feulner, and Moran, as the Ducks led 21-13. Hoke would cap off the set by putting down another kill as the Ducks won 25-15.
- Messiah and Stevens would battle it out in the second, as the two teams split the first 14 points. The Falcons would then score four of the next five to take an 11-8 lead and force a timeout from head coach Dan Buehring. The Ducks would respond from there, scoring six of the next seven and forcing Messiah to talk things over. Later with the match tied at 17, the Ducks recorded back-to-back points including a kill from Feulner, and the Ducks would not trail from there, holding off Messiah to go up 2-0.
- It would be another quick match, as the Ducks went on to sweep the Falcons. Leading 4-3, the Ducks picked up five of the next six points as they took a 9-4 lead. Bickford and Moran each had kills on the streak. Later up 11-6, again scored five of six, going up big on the Falcons. It would be smooth sailing the rest of the way for the Ducks, as they recorded their third-ever sweep of Messiah.
