FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. (April 21, 2024) – First-year Maxime Debets finished in the top ten after shooting an even par 72 on Sunday as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's golf team finished sixth at the Gettysburg Spring Shootout. The weekend tournament was played at the Penn National Golf Club (6,784 yards – par 72).
Debets shot 76-72 to finish 4-over for the tournament and claimed tenth place. It marks the second career top ten finish at a tournament. He finished eight strokes behind McDaniels' Charlie Dolan, who won the tournament. 63 golfers competed in the event. Pennsylvania Tech's Peyton Mussina finished one back of Dolan to claim second. Patrick Kilcoyne (-1, Gettysburg A), Shane Lawler (+1, Franklin & Marshall), and Cam Deiuliis (+2, Gettysburg A) rounded out the top five.
As a team, the Ducks finished with a score of 310, finishing 27 strokes behind the team champions Gettysburg "A". Franklin & Marshall came in second, finishing 11 behind the leaders. McDaniel, Swarthmore, and Drew completed the top five. Across the two day tournament, Stevens finished with the second best par five scoring average at 4.80.
The Rundown
	- Debets had a much steadier day on Sunday than he did Saturday, as he made par on 14 of the 18 holes today. The France native carded five total birdies on the weekend. He played the back nine on Sunday 1-under par. The first-year also had the seventh best par 3 scoring average in the field.

	- Sophomore Austin Liao finished 6-over for the weeknd and finished in a tie for 16th. After a 77 on Saturday, Liao responded nicely by shooting 2-under on the front nine on Sunday, making birdies at both one and seven. Despite going 4-over between holes 11-15 today, he birdied the 18th to end the weekend on a good note. He finished with the eighth best par 4 scoring average in the tournament.

	- Senior Gus Vickers, who has been the Ducks' top finisher in their last two events (including a victory), finished in a tie for 29th after shooting 78-77 to go 11-over for the tournament. He went 4-under on the first two holes this weekend, but couldn't find much success on the rest of the course, as he made just one other birdie to put his total to five, matching Debets.

	- Sophomore Brock Dickson finished in a tie for 35th after going 76-81 across the two days. Dickson double bogeyed the opening hole both days. On Saturday, he responded on the front after the double bogey by making two birdies to finish even.

	- Coming off a top ten finish on Thursday, first-year Sebastian Beaver finished in a tie for 49th to round out the scores for the Ducks. He shot 18-over (82-80) for the tournament.
