Kristen Williams won the 100-meter hurdles for the second straight event and graduate students
Ronnie Melao and sophomore
Danny Jutras each set new school records to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's outdoor teams Monday at the Final Qualifier. The event was hosted by Widener University at the George A. Hansell Track and Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium.
Williams, who won the event Friday night at Ramapo's Last Chance Twilight, set a new personal best for the second straight event, winning the race in 14.64 seconds. The Reston, Virgnia native trimmed three-hundredths-of-a-second off her time from three days prior and climbed inside the top 40 in Division III. Williams also narrowly missed a second PR in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish in 13.15 seconds. She also reached 10.34 meters in the triple jump to round out her day.Â
Graduate student
Laura Mathews set a new outdoor personal best in the 200-meter dash, finishing second in 24.34 seconds. The Denville, New Jersey native is among the top-15 runners in the event. Mathews also cleared 1.57 meters in the high jump and 5.15 meters in the long jump to complete her day.Â
Fresh off a conference championship in the discus, graduate student
Ashley Muliawan finished fourth with a mark of 38.38 meters for her second-longest distance of the season.

Amanda Antico posted her second-best mark of the season in the javelin, placing seventh with a distance of 30.85 meters. First-year
Kaitlyn Adams (11:49.77) and sophomore
Gianna Adamo (13:53.12) each set a new PR in the steeplechase to round out the women's entries.
On the men's side, graduate student
Ronnie Melao continued to lower his time in the steeplechase, finishing sixth with a time of 9:24.78 to set a new school record. The previous mark of 9:28.7 has stood since 2006. First-year
Ryan Paradine finished 10th with a time of 10:08.82.
The Ducks had their largest contingent of athletes in the men's 800-meter run. Sophomore
Danny Jutras led five Stevens runners in the field, placing 11th with a time of 1:52.75 to break his own school record. Senior
Jake Aylmer finished in 1:55.08 to set a new PR, with graduate student
Kajetan Leitner (1:57.52), sophomore
Caleb Stephen (2:01.62) and graduate student
Andrew Donahue (2:05.47) close behind.Â
Senior
Frank Orlando finished the 5k in 16:05.26 to round out Stevens' entries.
For the Opponents
- Widener had the largest contingent of student-athletes in the field and the team collected three first-place finishes. Isabel Rodriguez topped the field in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.83 meters on her sixth attempt. Kayla Robinson won the shot put with a distance of 12.97 meters on her second attempt. Matayo McGraw won the triple jump with a distance of 15.01 meters on his fifth jump. Rodriguez's mark was a season-best and moved the thrower just outside the top-10 in Division III. McGraw's distance was a lifetime best and he remains in the top six in the country.
Around the Middle Atlantic Conference
- Alvernia, Arcadia, Delaware Valley, DeSales, Eastern, King's and Misericordia joined Stevens and Widener at the Final Qualifier event.Â
- For Alvernia, Caitlin Sternberg and Isabella Lesko each posted a third-place finish to lead the team. Sternberg posted a time of 16.16 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, while Lesko hit 33.81 meters in the javelin.
- Arcadia sent a small contingent to the meet. Myles Sams was the Knights' top finisher, placing fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.41 meters.
- Delaware Valley had two competitors in the field. Kelly Hastings was the Aggies' top finisher, placing ninth in the 400 with a time of 1:00.70.
- Kyle Dunbar placed 10th in the 200-meter dash to lead DeSales. The senior finished the race in 21.93 seconds.
- Eastern had three athletes in the field. Hailey Shreffler placed sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:11.11 to lead the squad.
- Brady Varner was the highest finisher for King's, placing second in the discus with a mark of 44.12 meters.
- Richard Billings and Morgan Stover each had a fifth-place finish to lead Misericordia. Billings took fifth in the 400 with a time of 48.17 seconds, while Stover was fifth in the javelin with a mark of 33.12 meters on her first attempt.
- Stevenson was also set to compete at the event, but Fabrice Saint Hillien was pulled from the 400-meter dash.

- Men's and Women's Track and Field heads to upstate New York on May 15 for the opening day of the two-day All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
