Men's Swimming Topped By Salisbury

Salisbury, Md. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's swim team was knocked off by Salisbury University 240-58 on Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Liam Rodgers led a trio of Ducks to top-five marks in the 400-IM, finishing third in 4:51.51. Ethan Emerton (4:51.77) and Conlan Hurley (5:04.84) touched the wall behind Rodgers in their top-five finish. Edward Platonov finished second in the 200-freestyle in 1:59.39, clipping third place by just under a second. Ryan Ward took fourth in the 200-backstroke as he clocked in at 2:14.09.
 
Angel Velasquez was third in the 100-breaststroke in 1:05.93, missing first place by just over a second. Lukas Mikulenas was fifth, recording a time of 1:07.25. Deo Bove was third in the 200-fly in 2:12.95, as Cade Cermak (25.1), Gailen Davis (25.14), and Jack Martinek (25.37) finished consecutively in the 50-freestyle. The foursome of Will Stibor, Bove, Martinek, and Cermak were third in the 200-free relay in 1:38.67, as Emerton, Andy Kolecki, Daniel Shemetov, and Davis were fifth in 1:43.86.
 
Velasquez won the 100-backstroke, notching a time of 1:00.14 and holding off second by .14. Emerton notched a point in the race, claiming fifth in 1:02.68. Mikulenas placed second in the 200-breast in 2:28.69, .32 out of first place. Stibor was second in the 100-free in 54.00, with Cermak taking fifth in 55.28. Bove (4:20.82) and Ward (4:26.02) went back-to-back in the 400-free, as Joe Sparshott took second in the 100-fly in 59.99.
 
Cermak, Bove, Emerton, and Ward placed third in the 400-freestyle relay in 3:51.46 to close out the relay events on the day. Andrew Gaba (17:17) and Kerem Dogruer (18:06.39) went 4-5 in the 1,500 free relay to complete the scoring for Stevens.
 
UP NEXT
The Ducks close out the regular season next Saturday as they host Ursinus College at noon inside the DeBaun Aquatic Center.
