Men's Track & Field Competes At Moravian Indoor Meet

Bethlehem, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's track and field team competed at the Moravian Indoor Meet on Saturday.
 
The Ducks competed against Division I foes Lafayette and Lehigh while seeing Middle Atlantic Conference foes King's and DeSales along with regional competitors Montclair State and Muhlenberg,
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Leading the team, William Ladd placed second in the high jump with a leap of 1.8m, while Connor Efinger tied for third (1.7m), and Calvin Gibson and Bruno Santana-Ferro tied for fifth with the same height but on more attempts. (1.7m). On the track, Kyle Savino secured a third-place time in the 200-meter dash (23.19), as Ethan Stallone also earned third in the 400-meter hurdles (53.34). In the field, Brandon Kiefer's jump of 6.54m landed him third in the long jump, and Justin Gajewski took fifth in the triple jump (12.58m).
 
In the hurdles, Joseph Perriello and William Ladd finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles with times of 9.09 and 9.11. Douglas Winant led the Stevens sprinters in the 60-meter dash, taking seventh with a time of 7.24, while Jake Porco (16:23.77), Joseph Ruben (16:32.0), and Cillian Griffin (16:37.3) all earned top-10 finishes in the 5,000-meter run. Stevens received strong marks in the distance events, with Danny Jutras (13th, 9:11.65) and Enrico Parrella (14th, 9:11.66) in the 3,000-meter run, as well as Mick Barbi (13th, 4:48.1) and Matthew Hodorowski (15th, 4:52.1) in the mile.
 
Emmanuel Vega placed 12th in the weight throw (12.47m) and 20th in the shot put (11.46m), with Brandon Fox and Gabriel Kovach contributing solid performances. Additional highlights included Tyler Hackett's ninth-place finish in the 200-meter dash (23.93) and Kiefer's 11th-place time in the same event (24.09). 
 
INSIDE THE MEET
  • Kiefer moved to sixth all-time in the long jump, improving his PR by .10m.
  • Gajewski entered the top 10 in the triple jump with a distance of 12.58m. 
UP NEXT
The Ducks will compete in a pair of meets next weekend, heading to Widener for the Widener Winter's Evening Invite and Columbia's Dr. Sander Scorcher Meet on Friday and Saturday.
