Philadelphia, Pa. – Caroline Tighe of the Stevens Institute of Technology women's track and field team claimed victory in the high jump at the Widener Evening Invitational on Friday.
The meet, which had no team score, featured Middle Atlantic Conference foes Albright, Alvernia, Arcadia, DeSales, Eastern, King's, Messiah, Widener, and York while also welcoming teams from around the region.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tighe's mark of 1.6m ranks her 28th in Division III this season, while her standout performance was complemented by a 3rd-place finish from
Maggie Previglian, who cleared 1.5m, and
Allie Canciani, who tied for 9th with a jump of 1.45m.
Isabella Shanley delivered another strong showing in the 400-meter dash, placing 8th with a season-best time of 1:01.16. In the pole vault,
Alexis Merola secured a 6th-place finish, clearing 3.2m, while teammate
Stephanie Ryazanova placed 16th with a height of 2.9m.
Fionna Feerick led the Ducks in the 3,000-meter run, finishing 12th in 11:25.38, followed by
Samantha Rozek (16th, 11:52.36) and
Madeline Bender (17th, 11:53.14).
In the mile,
Isabella Gabay paced the team with a 15th-place finish in 5:31.49, with
Kaitlyn Adams following in 25th at 5:49.18.
Nina Burden represented Stevens in the 800-meter run, finishing 27th in 2:32.54. Additionally,
Anya Sadowski and
Lauren Alley competed in the 60-meter hurdles, placing 19th (10.24) and 26th (10.61), respectively. Tighe also competed in the long jump, achieving a season-best leap of 4.56m to place 24th.
INSIDE THE MEET
- The senior Tighe missed her PR by .5m and surpassed her previous season best by .7m.
- Shanley shaved over a second off her season best of 1:02.53 set last week.
