ANNVILLE, Pa. – Stevens Institute of Technology women's track and field student-athletes
Caroline Tighe,
Alexis Merola,
Allie Canciani, and
Isabella Shanley were all named Academic All-MAC by the Middle Atlantic Conference office Wednesday for their efforts from this past Winter's indoor track and field season.
The Academic All-MAC teams are based off semester grade-point averages (GPA) for the semester of their championship season. The minimum GPA required is a 3.20, and the student-athlete must remain an eligible member of the team through the conclusion of the season. Voting for this award is based on 50% academic excellence and 50% athletic prowess.
For the third time in four seasons, Tighe was named All-MAC First Team in the high jump. One of just five female Ducks to ever clear 1.60 meters during indoor season, Tighe cleared the mark three times between January 24 and March 8 this past Winter,, most notably at MAC Indoor Championships (2/28 – 3/01).
Merola followed up her pole vault runner-up/All-MAC Second Team efforts from 2023-24 with a MAC Indoor Championship-winning performance/First Team efforts this past Winter. One week after that MAC Championship performance, Merola outdid herself, breaking the school record, clearing 3.47 meters, 0.11 meters above the previous mark of 3.36 meters set 12 years prior.
For the second straight year, Canciani made a substantial statement for the Ducks' indoor program. After winning the 4x200 Meter Relay at MAC Indoor Championships and setting the school record in the same event last year, Canciani won the 4x400 Meter Relay at this year's MAC Indoors in March.
Shanley was an All-MAC performer in three separate events this past indoor season, earning First Team honors in the 400 Meters and 4x400 Meter Relay (winning both races), and taking Second Team honors (second place) as a member of the 4x200 Meter Relay.
