Logan Twp., N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's cross country team, led by an eighth-place finish from Kaitlyn Adams, placed eighth at the NCAA Metro Regional Championships on Saturday.
 
The Ducks totaled 235 points. Swarthmore won the event with 69 points, followed by Moravian (103), Rowan (110), TCNJ (120), and Stockton (169) to round out the top five. Stevens finished as the top Middle Atlantic Conference team, with Arcadia close behind in ninth.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens sat in 10th place at the one-mile mark before climbing two spots by the 4.25K split, where they held steady the rest of the race. Adams posted the second-fastest time among MAC competitors, crossing in 22:13.2. She led the Ducks early with a 5:56.5 opening mile. Isabella Gabay, who ran the team's second-fastest first mile at 5:56.7, placed inside the top 20. The sophomore clocked a 22:43.5, finishing just under a second ahead of 21st place.
 
Madeline Bender was the third Duck across the line, recording a 24:19.3. She held off runners from Bryn
Mawr and Stockton to secure 67th, with the next two finishers closing within 0.6 seconds. Taylor Enes added a 71st-place showing in 24:23.4, edging 72nd by 0.3 seconds. Isabel Vogel rounded out the scoring in 86th with a time of 24:51.2. Kate Cen (103rd, 25:26.5) and Catherine Bondi (108th, 25:37.2) also competed.

• The eighth-place finish marked the program's highest result at the Metro Regional since joining the region.
• Adams and Gabay became the program's first All-Region honorees since entering the Metro Region.
• Adams trimmed nearly 30 seconds off her previous 6K PR, while Gabay took seven seconds off her best time.
• Bender, Enes, and Vogel also recorded PRs, with Vogel dropping 40 seconds from her previous mark set earlier this season.
