Providence, R.I. – The Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team knocked off No. 15 Coast Guard, 21-15, during the Johnson & Wales Quad meet Saturday afternoon. The Ducks also fell to the host Wildcats (No. 6 in the NWCA rankings), 25-20, and to D-II member West Liberty 30-13 in the Red and Gray's first quad meet of the year.

Ryan Smith all went 3-0 for the Ducks during the day's action.
The Rundown – Coast Guard
Coast Guard picked up wins by major decision at 125 and decision at 133 for an early 7-0 lead. Diaz, Handlovic, and Smith all picked up decision wins at 141, 149, and 157, respectively, jumping in front 9-7.
Ian Flanagan followed another Coast Guard decision win at 165 with one of his own at 174 and
Noah MacIlroy followed with a ranked win over Gabe Monroe, No. 14 in the NWCA rankings, as Stevens led 16-10 with two matches left.
Cole Grenier clinched the dual with an 18-1 technical fall win at 197, with Coast Guard claiming the final points of the dual with a technical fall at 285.
The Rundown – Johnson & Wales
Against the reigning co-national champions, with action starting at 141, a Diaz major decision and technical falls from Handlovic + Smith put the Ducks up 14-0 through the first three matches. Jack Richardson (No. 7 in the NWCA rankings) picked up the first of two straight wins for Johnson & Wales (one by major decision, one by decision), who closed to 14-7 halfway through the dual. MacIlroy added a decision win for the Ducks, but back-to-back falls for Johnson & Wales at 197 and 285 gave the Wildcats their first lead of the dual, 19-17. Piccione put Stevens up 20-19 with a decision win at 125, but Peyton Ellis (No. 6 in the NWCA rankings) clinched the win for Johnson & Wales with a fall at 133.
The Rundown – West Liberty
Piccione got the Ducks started with a major decision win at 125, with Diaz and Handlovic following with decision victories at 141 and 149 for a 10-5 Ducks advantage, Diaz knocking off Khyvon Grace, the second-ranked wrestler in D-II at 141. Smith won in sudden victory at 157, putting the Ducks up 13-5, but the Hilltoppers won the final five matches, three by fall, to take the dual.
