Winant Sets School-Record in 55-Meter Dash At Golden Bear Invite

Kutztown, Pa. – Sophomore Doug Winant of the Stevens Institute of Technology men's track & field team set the school record in the 55-meter at the Golden Bear Invitational on Friday.

No team score was recorded as Stevens competed against Drew, FDU-Florham, Immaculata, Kutztown, Lancaster Bible, Messiah, Muhlenberg, and Swarthmore.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Winant's came during the preliminary round, as he took second in his heat. The sophomore registered a time of 6.6 and finished fourth in the finals. Winant turned in a finals time of 6.73, with classmate Tyler Hackett taking fifth in 6.75 and junior Brandon Kiefer in sixth in 6.95. Junior Connor Robinson just missed the finals, taking seventh in the prelims in 6.85.

Rai Bindra finished fourth in the 400-meter in 545.54 while also placing fifth in the 200-meter in 24.78. First-year Calvin Gibson took fifth in the 800 in 2:30.07 while Kiefer took first in the 55-hurdles in 8.71. In the field events, Andrew Anantharajah was fourth in the pole vault (3.92m), as Cullen Grady (3.32m) and David Huang (3.32m) had top-eight marks.

The Ducks return to competition tomorrow and compete in the West Point Tune-Up, hosted by Army, beginning at 10 am.
