Grace Hicks advanced to the second round in epee as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's fencing team competed at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Region Championship, hosted by Drew University, on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hicks led the Ducks in epee, finishing 26th overall. The sophomore posted a 3-6 record with 19 touches, placing 16th after the opening round. Her day concluded in the second round, where she finished 1-5 with 13 touches while conceding 22.
In foil,
Elizabeth MacDonald went 2-6, while
Emily Zgombic and
Julia DiPaolo each recorded one victory. MacDonald registered 16 touches across her eight bouts, while Zgombic and DiPaolo tallied 16 and 15, respectively.
In sabre, Alexandra Craine and
Alyssa Ip each secured two wins. Craine finished 2-6 with 20 touches, while Ip posted a 2-6 record with 19 touches. Both fencers came within two wins of advancing to the second round.
