Fayetteville, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology sits in eighth place after the first day of the Gettysburg Spring Shootout on Friday.
Stevens posted a team score of +29 (317) on the day, trailing seventh-place Swarthmore by five strokes and sixth-place Gettysburg by six. Franklin & Marshall leads the field with a +7 (295), while the Gettysburg "A" team sits in second at +9.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Ben Slicker led the Ducks with a +5 (77), placing him 18th overall. He shot a +1 on the front nine, notching birdies on the opening par-four first hole and the par-four fifth.
Brock Dickson and
Dillon Kim followed closely, each carding a +6. Dickson was +2 on the back nine, playing the final six holes at one under par. His lone birdie came on the par-four 12th. Kim was +1 on the front nine and recorded eight pars over that stretch.
Arav Tank and
Maxime Debets each finished with +9 scores in the opening round. Rounding out the lineup for Stevens was
Sebastian Beaver, who carded a +11. He recorded a birdie on the 527-yard par-five second hole—the second-longest hole of the day.
