Wilkes-Barre, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's track & field team earned several top finishes and personal bests at the Monarch Open on Friday.
No team score was recorded, as Stevens competed against Caldwell, FDU-Florham, King's, Marywood, Misericordia, and Susquehanna.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Gianna Adamo claimed first place in the 3000m steeplechase with a personal-best time of 13:39.33.
Allie Canciani had a standout day, finishing second in both the 400m (1:02.81) and the high jump (1.57m – season best).
Maya Lapinski followed closely in the high jump with a third-place mark of 1.51m, and also placed second in the long jump with a leap of 4.97m.
In the 800m,
Fionna Feerick ran a personal-best 2:25.18 to finish third, and
Kate Cen placed sixth in 2:34.01.
Alexis Merola cleared 3.35m to take third in the pole vault, with
Stephanie Ryazanova placing fourth at 2.95m. In the hammer throw,
Anacarolina Ventura threw 39.50m to finish fifth, followed by
Ashley Muliawan in seventh (34.65m) and
Claire Deatrick in eighth (34.59m).
In the discus, Muliawan placed eighth (32.09m), Ventura was ninth (31.18m), Deatrick finished eleventh (28.10m), and
Josephine Lulaj threw a personal-best 21.33m for seventeenth. Deatrick also placed seventh in the javelin (20.08m) and eleventh in the shot put (8.47m). Lulaj added a personal-best 29.10m in the hammer to place thirteenth.
