Allentown, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's track & field team tallied three first-place finishes as the team closed out the Muhlenberg Invitational on Saturday.
No team was recorded as Stevens competed regional foes Muhlenberg, Moravian, Scranton, DeSales, Dickinson, and Franklin & Marshall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the 400m hurdles,
Ethan Stallone led the way with a first-place finish in a personal best 57.35, followed by
Connor Robinson, who placed third in a PR 59.42, and
Xavier McWilliams in fourth at 59.52. Daniel Jutras claimed first in the 800m with a time of 1:55.54, with teammates
Jake Aylmer placing fourth in a season best 1:59.68,
Mick Barbi fifth at 2:00.27, and
Matthew Hodorowski twelfth in 2:02.92. In the 5000m,
Liam Concannon placed second in 15:07.67, a top-100 mark nationally, with
Frank Orlando thirteenth in 16:01.33, and freshmen Joseph Ruben and
James Adamo running personal bests of 16:06.27 and 16:20.14 to finish fifteenth and eighteenth, respectively.
In the 3000m steeplechase,
Ryan Paradine ran a personal best 9:50.12 to earn fourth place. In the 1500m,
Caleb Stephen clocked a personal best 4:11.64 for seventh, while
Bryan Onody finished ninth in 4:12.62,
Kevin Medrow was seventeenth in 4:20.90, and
Luke Giangrande placed twenty-ninth in 4:45.81. Sprinting highlights included
Kyle Savino, who placed fifth in the 200m with a time of 22.75, while freshmen
Joseph Perriello and
William Ladd ran personal bests of 23.61 and 23.70 to place sixteenth and twentieth. In the 400m,
James Johnson ran 56.24 to place fifteenth. The jump squad also saw big results, as
Connor Efinger hit a season best of 12.51m in the triple jump to place fourth, followed by
Justin Gajewski in fifth at 11.96m. Gajewski also placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.80m, and
Bruno Santana-Ferro added a seventeenth-place finish with a mark of 4.86m. In the high jump, Santana-Ferro cleared 1.72m to place eighth, with
Brandon Kiefer finishing ninth at 1.67m.
The pole vault unit brought in strong points, with
Chris Persico taking first at 3.94m,
Kyle Miller finishing second with 3.79m,
Andrew Anantharajah placing fourth with a season best 3.64m, and
Braedan Joyce seventh with a season best 3.49m. In the throws,
Xavier McWilliams placed ninth in the shot put with a mark of 11.94m, followed by
Cooper Kinsley in fifteenth (11.37m), Emmanuel Vega twenty-seventh (10.45m), and
James Johnson thirty-first (10.07m). In the hammer throw, Kinsley and
Brandon Fox placed eleventh and twelfth with throws of 37.94m and 37.02m, respectively.
In the javelin,
Brandon Kiefer finished eleventh at 42.13m,
James Johnson was thirteenth with 41.15m,
Braedan Joyce threw 40.89m for fourteenth,
Jerry Chen was twenty-fourth with 33.13m, and
Connor Efinger followed in twenty-seventh at 30.80m.
