YORK, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's track & field team had a monster second day at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Outdoor Championships, shooting into first place heading into the final day of competition.
The Ducks finished Saturday with 51 points, three clear of King's, four clear of Widener, and 8.5 clear of Lebanon Valley; no other team is within 27 points of the Ducks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Maya Lapinski led a quartet of top-six finishers for Stevens in the high jump, winning the conference title with a high mark of 1.60 meters.
Caroline Tighe also cleared 1.60 meters (needing one additional attempt to do so), taking third.
Allie Canciani and
Maggie Previglian both cleared 1.57 meters, Canciani in two attempts & Previglian in three, taking fourth and sixth; the foursome totaled 24 points between them.
Kaitlyn Adams and
Jacqueline Lulaj took third and seventh, respectively, in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, collecting eight points total.
Caroline Tighe jumped 17 feet, 2.25 inches in the long jump, taking fourth in the event and picking up five more points; the leap put Tighe in a tie for 6
th on the program's outdoor all-time Top 10.
In the discus,
Ashley Muliawan posted a top throw of 36.10 meters (118.5 feet), taking another four points with a fifth-place finish.
UP NEXT
The Championships wrap tomorrow, with the Ducks looking for their first outdoor title since joining the conference after two runner-up finishes since 2022. Sunday's events include shot put, triple jump, javelin throw, pole vault, 1,500 meter run, 5,000 meter run, 4x100 meter relay, and the 4x400 meter relay.
