Men's Lacrosse To Face Gettysburg In NCAA Tournament

Ducks Head To Washington & Lee University For Second & Third Rounds

Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team is headed to Virginia this weekend for the Second and Third Rounds of the NCAA Tournament, as announced on Sunday night.

 
The Ducks earned their spot by defeating DeSales University 20-5 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship. They will face Gettysburg College in the Second Round on Saturday. The game will be hosted by Washington and Lee University, which will also host the Third Round. The Generals will face the winner of Scranton and Immaculata in the other Second Round matchup.

"We are honored to once again represent the MAC Freedom in the NCAA Tournament and are fully focused on our preparation this week," said Head Coach Gene Peluso. "We hold great respect for Gettysburg, a well-coached program with outstanding student-athletes.Gettysburg exemplifies the qualities of a high-caliber program, demonstrating balanced scoring, exceptional goaltending and defensive unit."
 
Gettysburg enters the tournament as the runner-up in the Centennial Conference, falling to Dickinson 13-11 in the championship game. The Bullets hold a 13-4 record and posted a perfect 8-0 mark in conference play during the regular season. Jack Dunleavy leads Gettysburg with 64 points, while Murphy Hoey anchors the defense with a .513 save percentage in goal. Stevens and Gettysburg share one common opponent this season: Dickinson College. The Ducks defeated Dickinson in the season opener, while Gettysburg edged the Red Devils 13-12 on April 9.

"This Saturday, 32 teams will compete, each having rightfully earned their place. We are proud and excited to be among them once again this year!" Peluso stated.
