Raphael Schneider to Pitch for Brazil at U-23 Pan American Championships

Hoboken, N.J. – Sophomore Raphael Schneider of the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team was named to the Team Brazil roster for the 2025 Under-23 Pan American Championships.

"I'm excited for this opportunity to represent my heritage and family playing the sport I love," Schneider stated.

The left-handed pitcher, who served as a student manager during his first season on Castle Point, will suit up for Brazil in the South American Baseball Confederation (CONSUBE) beginning October 20. Lima, Peru will host the six participating countries, which includes Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, and host Peru, with the sides seeking a spot in the World Cup.

"Raphael is an exciting young talent and even better person," said Head Coach Kristaps Aldins. "He has, in a short time, made a big impact on our team being named to our Leadership Council. I am beyond excited to see him have this opportunity overseas with Team Brazil. It could be just the beginning of an incredible meaningful life opportunity both on and off the field."

Schneider helped lead Decatur High School (Decatur, Ga.) to three straight Georgia State Tournaments and pitched for both the Purceville Cannons of the Valley League and the D.C. Grays of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League this summer. In six appearances with the Grays. Schneider tossed 9 2/3 innings while striking out seven. He threw a summer-best three innings with two strikeouts on July 20th against the Tbolts and went two shutout frames with a pair of punchouts against Big Train on July 6th.

The Georgia native joins Leo Bristow as two Ducks' pitcher to represent their country this year. Bristow, who pitched at Stevens from 2020-24, is currently a member of Team Sweden and tossed 3 2/3 against Germany in the European Baseball Championships on Sunday.

"Leo is a grizzled national team veteran at this point," Aldins expressed. "And, I'm sure, is much like a coach on the field at this point. He is getting a chance with Team Sweden to do what few people have a chance to do. Competing at the highest levels of international baseball."
