ITHACA, N.Y. – The Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team split a tri-meet on Saturday on the campus of Ithaca College, dropping a close dual to the host Bombers, 24-15, before ending their day with a commanding win over Nassau Community College, 36-10.
THE RUNDOWN – ITHACA
- The teams traded decision wins back and forth across the first four matches, with Charles Piccione winning 8-3 at 125 and Nico Diaz winning 4-1 at 141.
- Ryan Smith collected the first bonus points of the day for either side, winning a 12-1 major decision at 157.
- Tyler Roe made it back-to-back bonus point wins for the Ducks with a 15-0 technical fall victory at 165, putting Stevens on top 15-6.
- Ithaca picked up three consecutive major decision wins at 174, 184, and 197, grabbing an 18-15 lead with one match remaining
- The Ducks needed a decision to tie or major decision (or technical fall/fall) to win in the final match, but the Bombers closed the dual with a win via fall
