WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team finished the first day of the Lycoming College-hosted Budd Whitehill Duals on Friday 2-1, placing second in their pool.
Noah MacIlroy went 3-0 for the Ducks;
Cole Handlovic &
Nico Diaz each went 2-0, and
Noah Berlin-Langston went 2-1, rounding out the four Stevens competitors who picked up multiple victories.
Stevens won all eight contested matches against Oswego in their first dual of the day, picking up two more wins via forfeit in a commanding 51-0 victory, rallied late for a 19-18 victory over Wisconsin-Stevens Point in their second dual, and fell late to Ohio Northern, 24-14, in their third and final dual.

Major decision wins from
Dom Marinilli (133) and Handlovic (149) plus a technical fall for Diaz (141) put the Ducks up13-4 after four matches. After suffering defeats at 157, 165, and 174, MacIlroy got the Ducks back in the win column with a decision victory at 184. After the Pointers won at 197, needing a win to clinch the match for the Ducks, Berlin-Langston delivered just that, picking up a 7-2 decision win at heavyweight.

Down 10-0 through two matches, a Diaz decision at 141 and Handlovic technical fall at 149 got the Ducks right back in the dua, pulling within two, 10-8. After each team alternated back-to-back decision wins (
Ian Flanagan and MacIlroy picking up victories for Stevens at 174 and 184), the Polar Bears put the dual on ice with wins at 197 and heavyweight.
