BACK-TO-BACK! Women's Swimming Wins Second Straight MAC Championship

York, Pa. – For the second consecutive season, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team captured the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship.

The Ducks finished the four-day meet atop the standings with 1,516 points, nearly 300 ahead of Misericordia, which placed second with 1,227. Messiah took third with 1,105 points, while York (923) and Widener (766.5) rounded out the top five.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens saved its best performance for last, closing the championship with a victory in the final event of the meet. The quartet of Eszter Kiss, Natalia Brunetti, Gabby Sokolik, and Delaney Klaus won the 400-freestyle relay in 3:31.74, finishing two seconds clear of the field. Brunetti added a runner-up finish in the 200-backstroke, touching the wall in 2:08.86. Seeded fifth after the preliminary round, the senior shaved nearly six seconds off her morning time in the finals.

Klaus placed third in the 100-freestyle after entering the event as the top seed. Her preliminary time of 52.31 led the field, while she clocked a 53.05 in the final, finishing just under a second out of first place. Sokolik followed with a third-place finish in the 200-breaststroke, posting a time of 2:29.22. Emery Fitzharris finished fourth in 2:30.41, and Ashley Settle placed eighth in 2:36.99.

Dora Dvorkin recorded a fourth-place finish in the 1,650-freestyle with a time of 18:18.28, while Abigail Rosingana followed in sixth at 18:36.47. Julia McKinley placed 11th in the mile, and Samantha Gallo finished 14th in the 100-freestyle. Sydney Lanager took 14th in the 200-backstroke, while Adriana Bertolotti placed ninth in the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:33.42.

Stevens also recorded a 13th-place finish in the 400-freestyle relay earlier in the session, as the foursome of Dvorkin, Megan Koek, McKinley, and Paige Bleckley combined for a time of 3:46.66.
