Baseball Falls to DeSales in MAC Freedom Road Clash

Center Valley, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team dropped a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom road game at DeSales on Monday night by a final of 18-5.

How It Happened
Down 1-0 after one, Stevens (10-8, 3-3 MACF) loaded the bases with no one out in the second via walks to Griffin Zitko & Tyler Wilke and a Jackson Wein single. Adam Kobayashi tied the game with a ground out, then, after Ethan Simpson walked to re-load the bases, Wein scored on a passed ball and Vinnie Stigliano plated Wilke with a sacrifice fly, putting the Ducks up 3-1, though DeSales scored five in the bottom of the second, seizing the lead back, 6-3.

In the third, Adam Barrington singled ahead of a Wein hit by pitch. After the duo pulled off a double steal, Wilke drove them both in with a single to center, pulling the Ducks within one, 6-5.

DeSales tacked on five in the third, then after both sides went scoreless across the fourth, fifth, and sixth, the Bulldogs added two more in the seven before another five-spot in the eighth.

Stevens put runners on in the fourth, seventh, and eighth, but could not push another run across.
