Grantham, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's track & field team sits in a tie for fourth place after Day One of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Outdoor Championships.
The Ducks have totaled nine points through the opening day, trailing Misericordia (16), DeSales (22), and Lebanon Valley (27)
HOW IT HAPPENED
After five events in the decathlon,
Brandon Kiefer leads the field with 3,324 points thanks to placing top-three in all five events, including a 400-meter victory and 100-meter, long jump, and shot put runner-up finishes.
Calvin Gibson sits in ninth place, with top marks in the 400 meters (7
th place) and high jump (8
th place).
The 4x800 meter relay team of
Enrico Parrella,
Matthew Hodorowski,
Markus Soennichsen, and
Danny Jutras ran 8:00.01, the seventh-fastest time in the event in program history, finishing just 1.12 seconds back of fourth place on Thursday.
In the 10,000 meters,
Mick Barbi picked up five team points for the Ducks, running 32:57.01 for fourth place.
Cooper Kinsley led the way for the Ducks in the hammer throw with a top toss of 44.29 meters, ninth in the event and good for ninth in program history.

Day Two of the MAC Outdoor Championships begins at 9:15 AM with events including but not limited to: the final five events of the decathlon, high jump finals, long jump trials and finals, discus trials and finals, and 3,000-meter steeplechase finals.
