HOBOKEN, N.J. – Senior forward Jess Soltysik (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) scored two goals and added one assist to lead Stevens Institute of Technology to a 7-1 win over Mount St. Mary College in a Skyline Conference women’s soccer match on Saturday at DeBaun Field.

The game was the conference opener for Stevens, which improves to 6-3 overall.  Mount St. Mary falls to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in Skyline play.

Stevens wasted little time jumping ahead.  Sophomore Rebecca Quinn (Damascus, MD/Damascus) dribbled down the left wing and sent a cross into the box to freshman Coralynn Jones (Stevensville, MT/Stevensville) who scored just 1:26 into the match.  The Ducks added the eventual game-winning goal 15 minutes later when freshman midfielder Lorrie Brabender (Newark, DE/Padua Academy) scored off a cross from Soltysik at 16:49.

Mount St. Mary closed the gap to 2-1 in the 22nd minute.  Stevens cleared the ball out of the penalty area, but Lynn Candelli chipped a high shot from 35 yards back into the box that sailed over the head of goalkeeper Rommy Guevara at 21:59.  It was the Blue Knights only shot of the game.

Soltysik extended the Ducks lead to 3-1 before halftime when she scored off an assist from sophomore Valerie Barnhart at 38:57.  Soltysik scored again at the 49:40 mark off an assist from Milia George (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa).

Junior Elaine Magallon (Jersey City, NJ/St. Dominic), Barnhart and George also added second-half goals.  Stevens held a 21-1 advantage in shots.  Guevara and Kristine Conley split time in net for the Ducks.  Rachele Kempton (2 saves) and Jillian DiIenno (6 saves) each played a half for Mount St. Mary.

Stevens returns to action on Wednesday, October 4, when it hosts Mount St. Vincent in a 4 p.m. Skyline Conference game at DeBaun Field.
