Old Westbury Cruises to 75-46 Win Over Stevens in Men's Basketball

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Junior center Jon Bolden scored 20 points as SUNY-Old Westbury cruised to a 75-46 win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Thursday in a Skyline Conference men’s basketball game at the Canavan Arena.

SUNY-Old Westbury (5-6/2-3 Skyline) scored the first eight points of the game and never trailed.  Bolden, who had 10 points in each half, scored four in the first three minutes.  The Panthers took advantage of six turnovers by Stevens (0-9/0-3) in the first seven minutes in building a 19-4 lead.  Senior forward Eric Stanley (New York, N.Y./Solebury Prep), the Ducks’ leading scorer, picked up his third foul with 11:27 left in the first half.

Stevens got no closer than 15 points in the second half as Old Westbury extended its lead to as many as 33 points, 73-40, with 5:02 left on a short jumper by Bolden.  For the game, the Panthers shot 50.8 percent from the floor (30-for-59) while making seven of 15 shots from 3-point range.

Senior forward Anthony Bryant added 14 points while senior guard John Boykin added 11 points and eight assists.

Senior forward Jon Almonte (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) was the only Stevens player in double figures as he finished with 14 points.  Stanley finished with six points and eight rebounds while playing just 17 minutes.
