Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team will head to Virginia for the NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds, hosted by Christopher Newport University.
The Ducks (18-9), winners of the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship on Saturday, will face the host Captains at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. The other first-round matchup features Washington & Jefferson against University of Mount Union at 3:15 p.m. The two winners will square off Saturday at 5:45 p.m., with a berth in the Sweet Sixteen on the line.
Stevens is paced by
Tommy Scholl, who averages a team-best 18.1 points per game. The junior has drained 67 three-pointers this season and leads the Ducks with 6.6 rebounds per game.
Harmehar Chhabra registered a triple-double against Lebanon Valley on February 18, posting 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. Chhabra is tied for second on the team with 14.3 points per game while pulling down 6.4 boards. Sharp-shooter

The Captains (21-5) fell to University of Mary Washington in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament but earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Toa Hollenback leads Christopher Newport with 19.0 points per game and has knocked down 53 three-pointers. The guard erupted for 43 points against Mary Washington on February 4. Stevens and Christopher Newport have never met.
Washington & Jefferson (22-6) captured its 11th Presidents' Athletic Conference title this weekend with a 68-61 victory over Westminster College. The Presidents are making their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance and feature five players averaging double figures. They are led by Nathan Plotner (14.3 ppg) and Alex Acosta, who averages 11.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Stevens and W&J have also never met.
The final team in the four-team pod is Mount Union (22-3), which earned an at-large bid after falling to Heidelberg University in the OAC Semifinals. Chance Casenhiser leads the Purple Raiders with 17.5 points per game, while Shaun Vaden has been dominant defensively, recording 88 blocked shots. Stevens and Mount Union have met once previously, with the Ducks earning an 84-74 victory in the First Round of the 2021–22 NCAA Tournament.
