HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s tennis team captured four of six singles matches as it recorded a 4-3 win over Westminster (Pa.) on Wednesday.  The women’s team dropped a 9-0 decision to St. Lawrence earlier in the day.

The Stevens team of sophomore Steve Su (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) and freshman Boris Kocherov (Edison, N.J./Edison) earned an 8-3 win at first doubles, but Westminster captured second and third doubles to win the team point and take a 1-0 lead.

The Ducks earned victories at first, second, third and sixth singles to win the match.  Su posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Mark Gross at first singles.  Freshman Diego Quintana (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) earned a 6-2, 7-5 victory over John Libert at second singles.  Kocherov cruised at third singles where he earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Sam Seo.  Junior Dave Asis (Jersey City, N.J./McNair) notched a 7-5, 6-2 win over Ryan Mistovich at sixth singles.

On the women’s side, junior Kari Munger (Morristown, N.J./Newark Academy) won the opening set at first singles, but St. Lawrence freshman Anne Moulin rallied to win the next two sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.

The Stevens men are scheduled to face Concordia (Wisc.) on Thursday, March 18, at noon.  The women’s team is off until Friday when it faces Nazareth (N.Y.) at 8 a.m.
