HOBOKEN, N.J. – Junior guard Isaac Moore (Phoenix, Ariz./Moon Valley) recorded season-highs of 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead Stevens Institute of Technology to a 61-56 win over Manhattanville College on Wednesday night in a Skyline Conference men’s basketball game at the Canavan Arena.

Stevens, which matched its win total for the entire 2003-04 season, improves to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in Skyline Conference play.  Manhattanville falls to 7-7 overall and 3-3 in the league.

Manhattanville knotted the game at 53-53 when sophomore center Jerry Fiefie (Stamford, Conn./Westhill) hit the first of two free throws with 3:12 remaining.  Stevens then connected on six consecutive free throws over the next 2:27 to open up a 59-53 lead.  Sophomore forward Tim Williams (Selden, N.Y./Newfield), Moore and sophomore guard Floyd Morris (East Windsor, N.J./Peddie School) each connected on a pair of free throws for the Ducks.  Manhattanville pulled to within 59-56 on a 3-pointer by junior guard Mike Benziger (Sonoma, Calif./Sonoma Valley) with 25 seconds left, but Stevens sealed the win when freshman guard Waleed Farid (Woodside, N.Y./Stuyvesant) sank a pair of free throws with 16 seconds to play.

Stevens trailed 28-25 at halftime and fell behind by seven points early in the second half.  A jumper by Benziger gave the Valiants a 38-31 lead with 15:53 to play.  The Ducks used an 11-2 run over the next 3:43 to climb back into the lead.  Moore scored seven of the 11 points during that stretch including a 3-pointer with 12:10 left that put Stevens on top 42-40 with 12:10 remaining.  Over the next nine minutes, the lead changed hands three times and was tied on three occasions – the last at 53-53 – before Stevens took command.

Stevens came up big at the free-throw line, hitting 11 of 12 attempts (91.7 percent) from the stripe in the second half.  Manhattanville was just 8-for-13 (61.5 percent) at the line in the second half.  The Ducks also committed a season-low nine turnovers and held a 39-33 rebounding advantage.

Farid and junior guard Jimmy Dominkewicz (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) added 11 points apiece for Stevens.  Freshman guard Donte Chisolm (Mount Vernon, N.Y./St. Raymond) led Manhattanville with 14 points along with six rebounds and four assists.  Benziger and sophomore guard John DiBetta (Valhalla, N.Y./Valhalla) contributed 12 points apiece.
