FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Junior outside hitter Chris Bock (Empangeri, South Africa/University-Fla.) recorded 12 kills as the Stevens men's volleyball team overcame a slow start to earn a 3-1 (28-30, 30-24, 30-15, 30-22) win over Division I Sacred Heart University on Saturday.
After dropping the opening game, Stevens (8-4) regrouped and won the next three games to pick up its fifth straight win. Sacred Heart falls to 0-3.
The Ducks also received eight kills and five service aces from sophomore middle hitter Scott Stoner (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) and six kills and seven total blocks from sophomore middle hitter Will Foley (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa).
Senior Brian Woodworth (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine Prep) and junior Greg Higgins (Kenmore, N.Y./Kenmore West) had five kills apiece. Higgins also added four service aces. Freshman setter Steve Strollo (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown) had 47 assists.
Stevens is back on action on Tuesday, February 8, when it hosts Philadelphia Biblical University in a 7 p.m. match at the Canavan Arena.
