Women’s Soccer Downs St. Joseph’s in Skyline Conference Opener 4-0

HOBOKEN, NJ (September 21, 2005) – Freshman Audra Clark (Dallas, TX) netted two goals to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer team to a 4-0 victory over St. Joseph’s-L.I. in its Skyline Conference opener Wednesday night at DeBaun Field in Hoboken, NJ. The victory is the sixth straight for the Ducks (6-1, 1-0 Skyline), who posted their fifth consecutive shutout over the Golden Eagles (3-5, 1-1 Skyline).

Stevens scored their first tally in the 11th minute of the game when Clark headed in her first goal off a corner kick from senior Lorrie Brabender (Newark, DE).  Freshman Meghan Tennyson (Folsom, LA) added the Ducks second score of the half with sophomore Lauren Buroojy (Newtown, PA) and junior Siena York-Carr (Davis, CA) assisting on the goal.  Stevens outshot St. Joseph’s 9-2 in the half.

The Ducks added two more goals in the second half with freshman Salme Cook (Faixfax, VA) registering her first score of the game off her own rebounded shot.  York-Carr earned her second assist of the game on the goal.  Clark tallied her second goal of the contest in the 72nd minute when her shot deflected off St. Joseph’s goalie.

Stevens junior goalie Erica Midttveit (Jackson, NJ) totaled two saves in the game, while Katie Schnitzenbaumer had seven for the Golden Eagles.   

Stevens returns to action at DeBaun Field Saturday, Sept. 24, for its homecoming game against Drew University at 1 p.m.
