With the Ducks (14-11, 9-6 Skyline) clinging to a seven-point lead, freshman guard Virgil Gray II (Elmwood Park, N.J.) started the decisive run with a three-pointer.  Freshman guard Joseph Amelio (Bronx, N.Y.) followed with a three-pointer of his own.  Junior forward Michael Collins (Bronx, N.Y.) added a lay-up and a tip-in as the lead grew to 61-44 with 8:59 to play.  Stevens was able to pull away as Maritime went nearly six full minutes without scoring a point.

The Ducks started strongly as they opened a 24-9 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game.  Senior guard Isaac Moore (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Gray scored six points apiece during that stretch.

Trailing 34-21 with just over three minutes remaining in the first half, Maritime (6-19, 2-12) put together a 10-2 run in the span of 2:08 to climb within 36-31 with 1:02 left on the clock.  Five different players scored in the burst for the Privateers.  Senior guard Gerard Danzy (Monroeville, Ala.) knocked down a jumper to cap the run as Maritime cut the Ducks’ lead to five points.  Stevens held a 38-31 lead at the break.

Sophomore guard Waleed Farid (Woodside, N.Y.) led the way for the Ducks with 19 points and seven rebounds.  Farid was 6-for-13 from the floor and knocked down three of six shots from downtown.  Gray added 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench.  Junior forward Tim Williams (Selden, N.Y.) was four of six from the floor for 11 points.  Williams also pulled down seven rebounds.  Playing in what may be his final home game as a member of the Ducks, Moore collected eight points, eight assists, five rebounds and two steals.  Senior guard Ryan Kander (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) added three points and five rebounds on Senior Day.

Senior center Robert Benton (Montgomery, Ala.) paced the Privateers with 17 points.  Danzy added 12 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks in the loss.

Stevens dominated the boards as the Ducks out-rebounded the Privateers 40-28 in the game.  Stevens shot 47.2 percent (25-for-53) from the floor while Maritime connected on 22 of 55 field-goal attempts (40.0 percent).

The Ducks will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Patchogue, N.Y., to meet the Golden Eagles in the quarterfinals of the conference tourney.  The time of that game has not been announced.  Stevens won at St. Joseph’s, 68-57, on January 21 in the only match-up between the two teams this season.
