THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (January 27, 2007) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's swim teams each collected victories over Maritime College on Saturday afternoon. The women earned a 119-43 win, while the men totaled their fourth victory of the season, 118-81.
Freshman Stephanie Miller led the women with three first-place finishes. Senior Vadim Gordin and freshman Steven Crouch each took home top honors in two events to lead the men.
Miller placed first individually in the 200-yard individual medley (2:37.08) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:51.03). She was also a part of the first-place 400-yard medley relay team. Freshman Ashley Jo-Watson placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (1:05.91) and was a member of the first-place 400-yard free relay team for Stevens. Freshman Rachel Marcuson also earned a top finish for Stevens with a first-place showing in the 500-yard freestyle (7:08.61).
Crouch was a double-winner with top honors in the 200-yard IM (2:19.82) and the 200-yard breastroke (2:31.50), while Gordin earned first-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.39) and 200-yard backstroke (2:12.35).
