Four Different Players Post Double-Digit Performances as Women's Basketball Claims 59-48 Win Over St. John Fisher

HOBOKEN, N.J. (December 2, 2007) – Four different players on the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team scored in double figures on Sunday afternoon as the Ducks beat the Cardinals of St. John Fisher College in Empire 8 action, 59-48, at the Canavan Arena in Hoboken, N.J. Senior forward Dora Enright put up a team-high 15 points and 19 rebounds. Junior guard Dani Dudek also had a double-double on the day with 13 points and 10 boards. With the win, Stevens extended its winning streak to four games and moved to 5-1 on the year with a 2-0 mark in league play. As for St. John Fisher, they fell to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Leading 15-10 with just under eight minutes to go in the first half, the Ducks went on a 10-3 run in a span of 3:24. Enright began the streak with a made jumper at 7:50. Freshman center/forward Paige Armstrong  ensued that with a lay-up. Following a made two-pointer from senior guard Jean Matusiak, Cardinals' senior forward Allison Boehm (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) drained a three-ball to stop a brief 6-0 burst. Dudek then scored the next four points as Stevens went ahead 25-13 with 4:26 left. The Ducks eventually led 28-17 at the break.

In the second half, Stevens was in front of St. John Fisher by a 34-23 count with 16 minutes remaining. The Ducks then used an 11-3 spurt in a period of 3:46 put the game away for good. Dudek sparked the burst with a trifecta while Enright capped off the streak via a lay-up with more than 12 minutes to go. Additionally, Enright had six points and two rebounds during the run. St. John Fisher attempted a late comeback with a 7-0 run in a span of 2:16, which cut the Stevens lead to 10 points with 1:57 remaining. Junior guard Meagan Tubbs (Ticonderoga, N.Y.), freshman guard/forward Amanda Lax (Warwick, N.Y.) and Boehm were the contributing scorers.

The Ducks shot 36.7 percent (22-for-60) from the field while the Cardinals shot a field-goal percentage of 31.5 (17-for-54).  Matusiak had 11 points, three rebounds and five steals, while sophomore forward Brittany Fuller added 12 points and a trio of boards. Dudek dished out eight assists and swiped one steal.

St. John Fisher was headed up by Boehm, who scored a game-high 23 points with 10 rebounds. She was 8-of-17 from the field and 5-of-7 from the foul line. Sophomore center Mary Kate Comfort (Orchard Park, N.Y.) accumulated four points and six rebounds. Tubbs supplied eight points in 24 minutes off the bench.

Head Coach Jon Hochberg and his squad return to the court this Tuesday when they go to Newark, N.J. for a showdown with Rutgers-Newark. Action is scheduled to get underway from the Golden Dome at 7 p.m.
