Men’s Volleyball Rolls Past NJCU

Freshman Jonathan Landis helped lead the Ducks to their 11th NECVA win of the season.

HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 7, 2007) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s volleyball team earned a three-game sweep of New Jersey City University (30-12, 30-18, 30-26) in NECVA Metro action on Wednesday night in Hoboken, N.J.  Sophomore outside hitter Tomas Bochicchio (Saint James, N.Y.) led the Ducks with 12 kills, one block and nine digs.  With the win, Stevens improved to 23-5 overall and 11-0 in the conference. 

Senior middle hitter/outside hitter Scott Stoner (Wantagh, N.Y.) totaled 10 kills, two aces, two blocks and led the team with 10 digs.  Freshman outside hitter Jonathan Landis (Sellersville, Pa.) contributed eight kills and three aces.  Senior middle hitter Will Foley (Clifton Park, N.Y.) added eight kills, one ace and three blocks.  Setter/outside hitter Michael Schulte (San Bernardino, Calif.) led the Ducks with 52 assists.

Sophomore outside hitter/middle hitter Kevin Rodgers (Clifton, N.J.) led NJCU with eight kills and 13 digs on the night.  Sophomore outside hitter/opposite hitter Thiago Siqueira (Newark, N.J.) was second on the team with six kills and six digs.  Senior setter Maurice Washington (Orlando, Fla.) totaled 18 assists for the Gothic Knights.

Stevens will be back in action on Friday when it hosts Vassar College at 7 p.m.
