PRINCETON, N.J. (April 10, 2007) – The Stevens Institute of Technology’s men’s volleyball team dropped in four games to Division I Princeton University (25-30, 26-30, 30-26, 15-30) on Tuesday night. Sophomore outside hitter Tomas Bochicchio (Saint James, N.Y.) led the team with 17 kills. The loss marked the Ducks first against state competition and dropped their overall mark to 33-7.
Sophomore outside hitter/setter Joe Trinsey (Wilmington, Del.) was second on the team with 10 kills, while senior middle/outside hitter Scott Stoner (Wantagh, N.Y.) and senior middle hitter Will Foley (Clifton Park, N.Y.) each added six apiece. Sophomore middle hitter Wes Eberlin (Honolulu, Hawaii) led the team in blocks with nine. Junior libero Josh Coffing (Albuquerque, N.M.) led the team in digs with 10 and Stoner recorded seven along with one ace. Senior setter/outside hitter Michael Schulte (San Bernardino, Calif.) led the team in assists with 37and also totaled four blocks.
Junior outside hitter Peter Eichler (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) led Princeton with 20 kills and eight digs. Sophomore outside hitter Philip Rosenberg (Pasadena, Calif.) was second on the team with 13 kills. Sophomore setter Brandon Denham (Camarillo, Calif.) tallied a match-high 63 assists in four games.
Stevens will be back in action on Friday when it travels to Huntington, Pa. to play in the semifinals of the Molten Division III Men's Invitational Volleyball Championship.
